Banyumas and Depok Communities Prepare to Enter the Digital Administration Era
Depok, VIVA – The transformation of population administration services towards a digital basis continues to advance at the regional level, in line with the accelerated implementation of Digital Population Identity (IKD). Banyumas Regency and Depok City are now being prepared as areas that will drive communities into an era of services without physical documents.
The move emerged during a meeting between the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) at the Ministry of Home Affairs and officials from the Dukcapil agencies of Banyumas and Depok in Jakarta. The audience also served as an occasion to introduce new agency heads and discuss strategies for accelerating the digitalisation of population services.
Director General of Dukcapil Teguh Setyabudi affirmed that both regions are projected as pilot locations for IKD implementation. The focus extends beyond service transformation to include strengthening data integration in support of national social protection programmes.
“We are pushing Banyumas Regency and Depok City to become new pilot areas in accelerating IKD implementation to support the government’s priority programme in Social Protection,” said Teguh, as quoted from an official statement on Friday, 20 February 2026. According to him, digital identity will enhance data quality whilst improving the accuracy of welfare distribution.
The adoption of IKD is regarded as a gateway to a broader digital public service ecosystem. With digital identity, the public can access various services without having to carry physical documents that have traditionally been administrative prerequisites.
Teguh noted that the integration of population data through IKD will make service verification processes faster and more transparent. He expressed hope that Banyumas and Depok can replicate the success of other regions that have already undertaken the digitalisation of population services.
At the regional level, implementation readiness is being prepared through strategies to accelerate IKD activation for residents. Local governments consider that this transformation will not only improve bureaucratic efficiency but also enhance public access to services.
Head of the Banyumas Dukcapil Agency, Agus Sriyono, conveyed his region’s commitment to supporting the national programme. “Banyumas is ready to become a pilot area for the national social protection digitalisation programme, and we have prepared a strategy to accelerate IKD activation,” he said.
A similar sentiment was expressed by the Depok City Government, which views digital identity as part of the modernisation of administrative services. Head of the Depok City Dukcapil Agency, Mary Liziawati, assessed that the public will experience direct benefits from the digital system.
