Bantul Police Intelligence Officer Suspended Over Alleged Extortion of Property Firm
The Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Regional Police have suspended a member of the Bantul Police Intelligence and Security Unit, identified by the initial S, following reports of alleged extortion against a property development company in Bantul.
DIY Regional Police Public Relations Chief Senior Commissioner Ihsan stated that the officer has been removed from active duty and placed under special assignment (patsus).
"The individual is currently undergoing special assignment and has been suspended from active duty as part of the internal affairs (Propam) investigation," Ihsan said in a statement in Yogyakarta on Friday.
Upon receiving the complaint, Ihsan said, the DIY Regional Police's internal affairs division immediately moved to conduct an examination.
Several witnesses, including the reported officer, have been examined as a demonstration of the DIY Regional Police's commitment and seriousness in handling the case, in order to safeguard the integrity and dignity of the institution, Ihsan said.
The special assignment and suspension of S is based on Security Order Number: Sprin. Pam/1/II/2026, dated 20 February 2026, issued by the DIY Regional Police.
Ihsan stressed that the DIY Regional Police will not tolerate any form of misconduct committed by its members.
He also assured that the case would be handled in a transparent and accountable manner.
"We ensure that the process is conducted professionally and accountably as a form of our commitment to the public," Ihsan said.
