Police have arrested a man after he stabbed a fellow parking attendant while working on Jalan Wahidin Sudiro Husodo, Trirenggo, Bantul. The stabbing occurred due to a dispute over parking schedules.

Bantul Police Public Relations Head, First Inspector Rita Hidayanto, said the stabbing began when the victim, MD (36), a Trirenggo resident, was working as a parking attendant in the yard of a restaurant in the Trirenggo area on Monday (22/6) at 5.30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. The suspect, AS (27), a Bantul resident, then suddenly approached MD.

“The victim, who was working as a parking attendant, was approached by the suspect, and the two became involved in a dispute over the parking schedule,” she said when contacted by journalists on Monday (31/8/2026).

Rita continued that during the dispute, AS felt offended by MD’s words. As a result, AS, who was also a parking attendant at the same location as MD, pulled out a badik knife and directed it at MD’s body.

“As a result of the assault, the victim suffered two stab wounds to the upper right side of his waist,” she said.

After stabbing the victim, AS fled. Meanwhile, MD was taken to Panembahan Senopati Hospital for medical treatment.

“The victim received five stitches due to two stab wounds from the suspect,” she said.

After undergoing outpatient treatment, MD reported the incident to Bantul Police on Tuesday (23/6) at around 2.00 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. In response to the report, police immediately launched an investigation.

“During the investigation, it turned out the suspect had rarely returned home. After nearly two months of investigation, the suspect was finally apprehended in Bejen, Bantul on Sunday (30/8) at around 1.00 p.m. Western Indonesia Time,” she said.

Police then conducted an initial interrogation of AS, and AS admitted to assaulting MD. In addition to arresting AS, police also seized several pieces of evidence, including the clothing AS wore when stabbing MD.

“Police also secured the badik knife, approximately 30 centimetres long, which the suspect used to stab the victim,” she said.

Rita added that AS is currently in detention. For his actions, AS is charged under Article 466 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code on assault.

“The suspect is currently undergoing further legal proceedings,” she said.
