Bantul Expo to feature handicrafts, music
YOGYAKARTA: No less than 100 companies will present various leather, wooden and aluminum handicrafts at Bantul Expo 2002, an annual arts, cultural and commercial event in Bantul regency, Yogyakarta.
The organizing committee said in Yogyakarta on Wednesday that automotive and electronic products would also be on display at the expo, scheduled to take place at Bantul's Dwi Windu square from Aug. 1 through to Aug. 10.
A traditional music competition will be held every night during the expo, fielding Yogyakarta's famous campursari groups -- which blend Javanese music with the use of modern instruments.
A painting and gymnastics competition for students from elementary to high schools is also part of the event. However, organizers are still seeking a lot more companies to reach its target of 300 participants. --Antara
