Banten Provincial Police Arrest Gang for Assaulting Driver on Cikupa Toll Road
Serang (ANTARA) - The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Banten Provincial Police has secured three men suspected of committing the criminal act of assaulting a driver and robbery in the Cikupa Toll Gate area, Tangerang Regency.
The Head of Public Relations of the Banten Provincial Police, Senior Commissioner Maruli Ahiles Hutapea, stated in Serang on Wednesday that the arrest of the three suspects, initials MRP (25), DE (26), and RIL (26), was carried out by Subdit III Jatanras along with the Resmob Operational Team on Tuesday (5/5) around 19:00 WIB.
“The handling of this case is a follow-up to a public report that had attracted attention. After investigators visited the location, conducted scene processing, and gathered witness statements, we are convinced that the three perpetrators committed the act,” said Maruli.
Maruli explained that the investigators’ conviction was further strengthened by the case review results and evidence in the form of a medical examination showing that violence occurred collectively in public, as well as direct confessions from the suspects.
In the arrest, officers seized several pieces of evidence used by the perpetrators during the act, including three green vests labelled “TIMSUS”, three identification badges from PT Rajawali Anggada Nusantara Service, and two red uniforms labelled “RAJAWALI CORP”.
In addition to those attributes, the police secured three mobile phones and one leather wallet belonging to the perpetrators.
“Subsequently, the three perpetrators have been detained and are currently at the Banten Provincial Police Detention Centre to undergo further legal proceedings,” Maruli emphasised.
For their actions, the perpetrators are charged with multiple articles under Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP), including Articles 262, 466, 476, 477, and 482, with penalties as stipulated.
