The Banten Provincial Government has announced that the quota for its free Eid al-Fitr 2026 homecoming travel programme was exhausted within a single day. The provincial administration confirmed that no additional quota would be made available for the programme.

Registration opened on 18 February 2026. However, the Provincial Transport Agency (Dishub) reported that all places had been taken by 19 February.

“It’s all gone. We’ve temporarily closed registration for data verification. If there are still any vacant spots, we’ll reopen. But there won’t be any additional quota,” said Tri Nurtopo, Head of the Banten Provincial Transport Agency, on Thursday (19/2/2026).

According to Tri, the organising committee would verify all registrants. Those who pass the verification process would be announced promptly.

“Once verification is complete — because we need to contact each person or their family individually — hopefully it will be finished tomorrow and the results announced straight away,” he said.

Tri explained that the programme has a total capacity of 900 passengers across 20 buses. Four buses are allocated for travellers heading to destinations within Banten province, whilst 16 buses are designated for those travelling beyond the province’s borders.

The Banten Provincial Government had previously announced the free homecoming travel programme for this year’s Eid al-Fitr period. Departures will be from Serang City, serving seven destination cities across five provinces in Java and Sumatra.

“With roadworthy bus fleets, professional drivers, and an easy, integrated registration system, the 2026 Free Mudik programme offers a practical and reliable travel solution,” the Banten Transport Agency stated in an earlier release.
