Banten Provincial Government to Increase Lighting Along 2026 Eid Homecoming Routes
The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Banten Province, Deden Apriandhi, stated that they have identified several homecoming routes with insufficient lighting. The Banten Provincial Government will add streetlights in these areas.
“Furthermore, there are still several points on city roads, provincial roads, and national roads that require improvement,” said Deden after the 2026 Homecoming Coordination Meeting at the Banten Police Headquarters, Serang City, Wednesday (February 25, 2026).
The Provincial Government will provide lighting assistance to the district/city governments. He hopes that this assistance can be installed on roads that are dark and prone to accidents.
“Therefore, the role of the province will be to provide assistance to the district/city governments to provide lighting on roads that are still lacking and difficult,” he said.
In addition to lighting issues, the Provincial Government will also prepare health posts along the homecoming routes. Deden said that these posts can help travellers or personnel if something happens.
“However, there were several points emphasized by the Chief of Police that health workers should not be lacking to meet the needs of the community. That’s why we, from the regional government, will work with the district and city governments to prepare health posts to facilitate travellers,” he said.
For Deden, each institution has prepared for the 2026 Eid homecoming.
“This is indeed a collaboration between the regional government, the TNI, the Polri, and all stakeholders,” he said.
Previously, the Governor of Banten, Andra Soni, targeted that road repairs in Banten could be completed 10 days before Eid, including those under the authority of the province, the central government, and the districts/cities.
Andra asked the Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) of Banten Province to coordinate with all parties, even though the repair work is not carried out by the Provincial Government.
“I asked Mr. Arlan (Head of PUPR Banten), even though it is not our authority, it should still be paid attention to so that we can coordinate with the relevant parties,” said Andra, Thursday (February 19, 2026).
Andra admitted that he received reports from residents of Banten about damaged national roads. He will communicate with the Ministry of Public Works or other parties that handle the road issue.
“There are many national roads with potholes. It is not us who will fix it, but we will coordinate. The same goes for district roads,” he said.
Andra said that road repairs must be carried out immediately. He did not deny that repairs before the homecoming period are temporary repairs while waiting for permanent work by contractors.
“Ahead of the tender and contract, please understand that this handling is temporary. We will build communication in the coordination meeting, the target is 10 days before Eid,” he said.
