Banten Provincial Government Seals Three Companies for Polluting Cisadane River

The Banten Provincial Government, through its Environment and Forestry Service (DLHK), has sealed three companies suspected of polluting the Cisadane River in the Teluknaga sub-district, Tangerang Regency. “We have sealed three companies because they did not have permits,” said Head of the Banten DLHK Wawan Gunawan in Tangerang on Tuesday. He stated that the sealing was carried out after an investigation into the discolouration of the Cisadane River water. “Going forward, we will follow up on any unlicensed companies and take direct action in accordance with the prevailing regulations,” Wawan said. Meanwhile, the Head of the Supervision and Control Section of the Tangerang Regency DLHK, Sandy Nugraha, revealed that the three companies operate in the fields of plastic recycling, aluminium or ingot smelting, and jeans washing (laundry). He stated that of the three sealed companies, the plastic recycling and jeans washing businesses were proven to have polluted the Cisadane River because they lacked a standard Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL). “Therefore, we immediately sealed them. The pollution was confirmed for the two companies, the plastic recycling and the laundry, while the ingot smelter is still under deeper investigation,” said Wawan Gunawan.
