Banten Provincial Government and Danantara Agree on Development of Serang Raya Waste-to-Energy Processing Facility
Serang (ANTARA) - The Banten Provincial Government, together with Danantara at the Office of the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs in Jakarta on Monday, signed a joint agreement for the development of the Serang Raya Waste-to-Energy Processing (PSEL) infrastructure. Banten Governor Andra Soni, in his statement in Serang on Monday, said that the signing of this cooperation is part of efforts to accelerate integrated urban waste management under President Prabowo Subianto’s Indonesia ASRI (Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful) programme. “Alhamdulillah, today we signed an agreement with Danantara for the construction of PSEL in each region,” he said. Andra emphasised that the local government is fully committed to carrying out its role to ensure the Serang Raya PSEL development runs smoothly. He hopes the project can be completed on time so that its benefits can soon be felt by the community. “We will follow the guidance on the stages for the implementation of this PSEL development,” he stated. Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, explained that this step is in line with Presidential Regulation No. 109 of 2025 on Urban Waste Management through Waste Processing into Environmentally Friendly Renewable Energy Technology. The main focus of the regulation is to accelerate waste management in emergency conditions, namely areas with daily waste volumes exceeding 1,000 tonnes, such as in Bantargebang and other regions. “That must be accelerated into clean energy, electricity. Without smell and without poison,” he stressed. Zulkifli revealed that the acceleration of national PSEL infrastructure development is targeted at 25 locations in 62 regencies/cities. He also appreciated the collaboration between local governments and Danantara in realising Indonesia ASRI. For information, the agreement signed today specifically covers the construction of PSEL in seven locations, namely Serang Raya PSEL, Semarang Raya, Bekasi Regency, Bogor Raya, Bogor Raya 2, Medan Raya, and Lampung Raya. Specifically for Serang Raya PSEL, this environmentally friendly waste processing facility is planned to be centred at the Cilowong Final Waste Disposal Site (TPSA) in Serang City.
