Banten Port Productivity Rises, Logistics Flows Faster
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - General cargo productivity at the Port of Banten reached 2,773 tonnes per ship per day (T/S/D), or 117 per cent of the Q1 2026 target, while dry bulk cargo performance rose to 4,975 T/S/D, or 112 per cent of target. The improvements were supported by ready berths, warehouses, stacking areas, and adequately equipped handling gear. Branch Manager Andi Purwantoro said the productivity gains were achieved through operational standardisation and digitalisation of services based on PTOS-M. ‘PTP Nonpetikemas Cabang Banten continues to strive to improve productivity and service quality through the implementation of operational standardisation and PTOS-M-based digital services,’ he said in a formal statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. He noted that accelerating loading/unloading services is crucial to maintaining logistics distribution efficiency and supporting national industrial needs. ‘We will continue ensuring the readiness of facilities, equipment, and operational human resources so that loading/unloading services run optimally, safely, and on time,’ he added. He also stated that service digitalisation is expected to strengthen the industrial supply chain in Banten, which has long been a pillar of national manufacturing and distribution. ‘Digitalisation is also a key milestone in the services provided to users so that Pelindo Group’s presence in Banten, especially PTP Nonpetikemas Cabang Banten, can support the supply chain of the regional economy,’ he said. General Manager Pelindo Regional 2 Banten Benny Ariadi said the steps were taken to focus port services more closely on the characteristics of the commodities handled. Pelindo Regional 2 Banten currently manages several strategic ports including Ciwandan, IKPP and Bojonegara. He added that terminalisation is not merely an administrative arrangement, but a strategy to improve efficiency and transparency of logistics services. ‘Terminalisation is not just about administrative arrangement, but about delivering a service pattern that is more specific and professional so that logistics activities become more efficient, measurable and transparent,’ Benny said. He explained that Ciwandan Port now has a dedicated liquid bulk terminal at Wharf 04 and a dedicated dry bulk terminal at Wharf 02. ‘Ciwandan Port already has a liquid bulk terminal permission and is being developed to strengthen Banten’s position as a national logistics hub,’ Benny added.
