Banten Police Seize 7,471 Bottles of Illegal Alcohol Since Start of Ramadan
Banten Provincial Police seized 7,471 bottles of unlicensed alcoholic beverages during an Operasi Pekat (Public Illness Operation) enforcement campaign conducted during Ramadan 2026. One hundred personnel were deployed in the operation, which ran from 16 to 25 February 2026.
“Banten Provincial Police deployed 100 personnel, prioritising the function of Criminal Investigation Units and Public Order units,” stated Kombes Maruli Hutapea, Head of Public Relations for Banten Provincial Police, on Friday (27 February 2026).
According to Maruli, police sought to establish order and comfort for Muslims during their Ramadan fasting obligations. Officers targeted roadside shops and other locations suspected of selling illegal alcohol.
“During the operation, Banten Provincial Police seized a total of 7,471 bottles of alcoholic beverages of various types circulating without proper licensing,” he said.
In addition to alcohol, police also apprehended one individual in connection with a methamphetamine case. Officers also confiscated drug evidence comprising 7.5 grams of methamphetamine.
“In enforcement action against narcotics offences, officers also uncovered four police reports with drug evidence comprising 7.5 grams of methamphetamine and apprehended one suspect,” explained the Head of Public Relations for Banten Provincial Police.
Maruli stated that the 2026 Operasi Pekat Maung was conducted to provide a sense of security and comfort to the public.
