Banten Police Chief Inspector General Hengki stated that he would not take action against non-logistics or essential goods vehicles that continue to cross during the 2026 Eid exodus (mudik) period.

In the Joint Decree (SKB) governing the 2026 Eid exodus, operational restrictions for cargo transport were established on various toll and non-toll routes in both directions from Friday, 13 March 2026 at 12:00 local time until Sunday, 29 March 2026 at 24:00 local time.

The regulations apply to vehicles with three or more axles, cargo vehicles with trailers, cargo vehicles with semi-trailers, and all cargo vehicles used to transport excavated materials (soil, sand, and stone), mining products, and building materials.

In implementing the Joint Decree, Hengki said he would employ traffic control strategies and establish parking areas. “What we will certainly do now is set up traffic control points and direct vehicles here. Turning around is not a solution to the problem, but we are preparing parking zones to keep traffic flowing smoothly,” Hengki said at BBJ Port in Serang Regency on Sunday (15 March).

If violations of the Joint Decree continue to occur, the Banten Police Chief requested that the multi-agency agreement be revised in the future. “The Joint Decree is based on careful deliberation and has been socialised; if there are shortcomings, it will become subject to evaluation for necessary follow-up,” he explained.

Based on the Joint Decree, Merak Port is designated specifically for pedestrian travellers, buses, and private vehicles. Ciwandan Port is designated for motorcycles, Group V and VIb logistics transport, whilst BBJ Port is allocated for Group VII to IX trucks. “At BBJ Port operations are running smoothly and are already prepared. The capacity is 1,200 and it is only 60 per cent filled,” Hengki stated.
