Banten Manpower Office Strengthens Social Security Protection for Workers
Serang, Banten (ANTARA) - The Banten Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Office (Disnakertrans), through its Industrial Relations Division, has conducted guidance on the Workers’ Social Security Programme (Jaminan Sosial Tenaga Kerja) for employers and wage-earning workers in order to achieve optimal protection.
The event, attended by representatives of the Industrial Relations Divisions of Disnakertrans offices from regencies and cities across Banten Province, company representatives, and worker representatives from various parts of the province, took place at the Banten Provincial Disnakertrans Hall on Wednesday (15/7/2026).
“The aim, of course, is to achieve optimal protection for workers in Banten,” said the Head of the Banten Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Office, Septo Kalnadi, in a statement quoted in Serang, Banten, on Thursday.
Septo said the activity was expected to build stronger synergy between the government, employers, and workers in improving compliance with the implementation of the employment social security programme.
“The hope is that workers will become more productive with optimal protection and social security,” Septo said.
He explained that optimal protection for workers is an important part of realising industrial relations that are harmonious, productive, and fair, for the welfare of workers in Banten Province.
“Let us together achieve better protection for workers, for a Banten that is advanced, just, equitable, and free from corruption,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Regional Office for Banten, Muhyidin, when outlining the social security programme for vulnerable worker groups in Serang Regency, said the protection facilities provided to vulnerable workers cover two main basic programmes, namely the Death Benefit (JKM) and the Work Accident Benefit (JKK), with active protection for a period of one year.
Muhyidin stressed that the initiative and good practice implemented by the Serang Regency Government are projected to become a pilot project at the national level.
BPJS Ketenagakerjaan plans to replicate this regional budget collaboration scheme for adoption by all regional governments in Indonesia.
“Serang Regency is the first region to implement this collaborative scheme. Next, we will replicate this model nationally so that all regional governments in Indonesia can provide similar protection for vulnerable workers in their respective villages,” he explained.
He also urged the public and regional governments not to worry about the fulfilment of membership claim rights.
He assured that the fund resilience and claim reserves held by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan are in a very safe and stable condition to sustain the programme.
According to data from the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Banten Regional Office, the potential formal workforce in Banten Province numbers 2,866,368 people.
Meanwhile, the number of formal workers already protected by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan stands at 1,724,921 people, or a realisation rate of 60.18 per cent.
