Serang (ANTARA) - The Banten Provincial Karang Taruna is preparing ‘Bulan Bakti Karang Taruna’ (Karang Taruna Service Month) to commemorate the 66th anniversary of the organisation. The programme will feature activities focused on community service, social care, public health, economic empowerment, and environmental preservation.

The Chairman of Banten Provincial Karang Taruna, Yudi Budi Wibowo, stated in Banten on Sunday that one of the main agendas is a healthy walk centred at Tandon Ciater, South Tangerang City, which aims to involve thousands of members and the general public.

In addition to the healthy walk, the committee is organising several supporting activities, including free health checks, MSME (UMKM) bazaars, and door prizes for participants. These activities are expected to serve as a platform for social gathering and to strengthen the bond between Karang Taruna members and the community.

The series of Service Month activities serves as a momentum for Karang Taruna to reaffirm the organisation’s role as a community-based entity that works actively within the environment.

“This Service Month is not merely a series of activities to commemorate the 66th anniversary of Karang Taruna. It is a momentum for us to demonstrate that Karang Taruna is present with the community, working together, and providing direct benefits,” said Yudi.

According to him, the healthy walk, health services, MSME bazaars, and environmental activities are part of Karang Taruna’s spirit to encourage a healthy, productive, independent, and environmentally conscious society.

The Service Month programme will also include ‘korve’ or environmental clean-up actions at various locations across the Banten region. These activities will involve Karang Taruna members at various levels alongside the community and local stakeholders.

Furthermore, Banten Karang Taruna will launch the ‘Gerakan Taruna Asri’ (Beautiful Taruna Movement), involving tree planting in several critical lands. This movement is part of the commitment of Karang Taruna members to help preserve the environment and increase the awareness of the younger generation regarding ecosystem sustainability.

The Chairman of the Steering Committee (SC) for Banten Karang Taruna Service Month, M. Agil Zulfikar, said the series of activities is designed so that the 66th anniversary celebration is not merely ceremonial but provides a direct impact on the community.

“We want this Service Month to be a collective movement. From sports and health activities, MSME empowerment, environmental cleanliness, to reforestation. We are encouraging all of these to involve both Karang Taruna members and the public,” said Agil.

He added that implementing activities at various points across Banten also provides an opportunity to strengthen member consolidation and build a spirit of mutual cooperation.

Through this series of Service Month activities, Banten Provincial Karang Taruna hopes that the momentum of the 66th anniversary will further strengthen the members’ spirit of service in supporting social development and community empowerment in Banten Province.

“Karang Taruna is an organisation that grows alongside the community. Therefore, we translate the spirit of our 66th anniversary through real actions that can be felt and carried out together,” concluded Agil.
