Cilegon — Banten Governor Andra Soni has urged travellers planning to depart through Merak Port to routinely monitor weather forecasts via official channels before beginning their journeys to ensure the safety and smooth flow of the 2026 Lebaran homecoming season.

The message was conveyed by Andra Soni during an inspection of conditions at Merak Port in Cilegon City, Banten, on Sunday morning.

“Information related to official homecoming traffic channels, including weather updates, can be monitored before beginning the homecoming journey. This is important so that travel is more measured and safe,” he stated.

The Governor explained that thorough preparation encompasses all aspects, ranging from vehicle condition to the physical fitness of travellers. He asked the public not to force themselves to travel if field conditions, including weather, are unfavourable.

“Our hope is that everything planned by all relevant parties regarding the smooth flow and comfort of the 2026 homecoming season can proceed according to plan. We request your prayers and support,” he added.

Beyond weather considerations, Andra Soni also reminded travellers to always follow the instructions of officials on the ground. Compliance with officials’ instructions is seen as capable of preventing unnecessary vehicle congestion in the port area and arterial routes.

“Prioritise safety, prepare your vehicles properly, look after your physical health, and follow the instructions of officials on the ground for our collective comfort,” said Andra.

With synergy between government readiness and travellers’ discipline in monitoring the latest information, the homecoming traffic in Banten this year is expected to proceed successfully whilst placing public safety as the highest priority.
