Banten Governor Optimistic Carita-Anyer Will Become a Tourism Magnet Again

The premier tourist destinations in Carita-Anyer, Banten, are believed to be poised for a significant increase in visitors once the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road access is opened in the near future. “Since 2018, our tourism has dropped. People have been hesitant to visit Anyer and Carita, but thankfully, in recent years, it has begun to grow and recover,” stated Banten Governor Andra Soni when meeting the media following the opening of the Movenpick Resort Carita on Sunday (17/05/2026).

Alongside the recovery of destinations and tourism operators in Banten, Andra believes that the Carita-Anyer area can once again become a major tourism magnet for local communities, particularly those from the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area. Currently, tourist access to Carita-Anyer is being enhanced through the construction of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road. The development of this motorway will slash travel time on the Serang-Rangkasbitung route from 50 minutes to approximately 15-20 minutes.

This toll access will also support the development of the Tanjung Lesung Tourism Special Economic Zone (KEK), as well as providing access to Ujung Kulon National Park, the Baduy region, Carita Beach, Labuan, and Anyer. “Since we have been blessed with beautiful and rich nature, it is now a matter of how we utilise this potential,” he added.

So far, according to the Governor, the commitment of tourism operators in Banten is improving. The practice of arbitrary price hiking at tourist spots is gradually decreasing, although violations by some operators are still frequently encountered in practice. “Our business actors are also becoming aware that if we only wait for major holidays and do not take proactive measures, we will waste our existing potential,” he concluded.
