Banten Governor Andra Soni Calls for Transparent SPMB Process with Maximum Oversight

Banten Governor Andra Soni has called for the New Student Enrolment System (SPMB) in Banten Province to be conducted transparently, fairly, and accountably. He also warned that irresponsible individuals may attempt to influence the selection process.

Andra Soni stated that the SPMB process must adhere to regulations, with no parties imposing specific interests during new student admissions.

“The SPMB process must be conducted fairly, transparently, and accountably,” Andra Soni said in Tangerang City on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.

Andra Soni added that each stage of the SPMB process consistently draws public attention. Therefore, he urged all parties to jointly uphold integrity and transparency throughout the procedure.

“There are always individuals attempting to impose their own desires and interests during the SPMB period,” he said.

“The government is focused on ensuring all children in Banten Province have equal access to secondary education,” he stressed.

“Today, we are discussing the rights of all Banten residents, our children who are entitled to secondary education in the province,” he explained.

At the same event, Andra Soni acknowledged that the number of public schools in Banten remains limited. However, the provincial government continues efforts to ensure education access for the public.

One initiative, he said, is the provincial government optimising the Free School Programme as an alternative to expand education access.

“The Free School Programme is one alternative to meet the demand for secondary education,” he added.

The province’s top official has also directed the Banten Provincial Education Department and District Education Offices (KCD) to maximise oversight of the SPMB process.

“I have also directed the Education Department and KCD to coordinate and evaluate. This is a shared responsibility, as every child has the right to fair and equal education access,” he said.
