SERANG — Following an incident in which a rogue businessman demanded Rp 5 trillion from a PT Chandra Asri project, Banten Governor Andra Soni and Banten Police Chief Inspector General Suyudi Ario Seto were summoned to Jakarta.

The two senior officials were called to attend a meeting at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming on Wednesday, 14 May 2025. The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the board of directors of PT Chandra Asri.

"This meeting was indeed held, initiated by the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming," said Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of BKPM Todotua Pasaribu to reporters.

According to Todotua, he received direct orders from President Prabowo Subianto and Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Perkasa Roeslani to resolve the matter.

"We received orders from the President and the Minister, who is currently abroad, to facilitate a response to the incident that occurred in the Cilegon area," he said.

He expressed regret over the incident involving the National Strategic Project (PSN). He stated that the government had handed the case over to the General Crimes Directorate of Banten Regional Police.

Todotua reminded that the government is striving to achieve an economic growth target of 8 per cent, driven by the investment sector.

"This incident at Chandra Asri serves as a milestone for us to truly respond comprehensively, and we from the central government, the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming, will address this directly," he said.
