Banten Government to Relocate SMAN 3 Rangkasbitung Over Space Constraints

The Banten Provincial Government intends to relocate SMAN 3 Rangkasbitung in Lebak Regency, citing the current school’s limited area as a hindrance to its development. School principal Reri Yoseline stated that the school lacks a proper field for student activities, forcing them to use nearby public spaces such as the Rangkasbitung town square and the Multatuli Museum. “When it rains, the schoolyard floods. Water enters the school because the drainage channels are blocked by the raised road,” she explained on Monday (22/6/2026). She added that students are active and comfortable at the school, often requesting permission to hold activities there even during holidays, which is granted with parental consent. Reri confirmed the provincial government is planning to relocate the school to a more spacious site to provide adequate facilities. “The new location is nearly two kilometres from here, near the Rangkasbitung Samsat Office in the Ona area,” she said. Governor Andra Soni stated the relocation site will be larger and more representative, describing the current school as too cramped. “This school’s land is only 2,800 square metres. We are monitoring the relocation plan. We can see for ourselves it is very small, and it is time we relocated,” Andra Soni said. He expressed hope that the relocation will ensure sufficient infrastructure and facilities for the teaching and learning process, increase capacity, and improve educational quality. “The new location is over 6,000 square metres. The target for implementation is 2027,” he stated.
