Banten Government and Japan's Mie Prefecture Explore Human Resources Cooperation

The Banten Provincial Government and the Mie Prefecture Parliament of Japan are exploring cooperation on human resource development as part of efforts to establish a sister province relationship. Banten Governor Andra Soni stated in Tangerang on Wednesday that two meetings have already been held with the Mie Prefecture Parliament, on 6 May 2025 and 3 August 2026. During the most recent meeting, the Banten Provincial Government invited the delegation, led by Mie Prefecture Parliament Chairman Mr. Inagaki, to inspect the practical training rooms at the Banten Province Industrial Training Centre (BLKI) in North Serpong, South Tangerang. The visit is expected to pave the way for Japanese investment entering Banten Province. “We showed them our training facilities, and we will proceed step by step towards a sister province agreement. We will facilitate investors from Mie Prefecture to enter Banten,” Governor Andra said in a statement. “Banten Province is very open to investment. This investment is in line with what the president has proclaimed, especially downstreaming,” Andra emphasised. Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP), Virgojanti, said the Mie parliamentary delegation responded very positively to the first visit, with a focus on improving human resources. Virgojanti added that the possibility of business cooperation between Banten Province and Mie Prefecture will likely continue. “Banten Province has abundant human resources in the productive age group,” she said. Virgojanti also revealed that the Banten Provincial Government has a training centre in Pandeglang Regency with a larger land area. If Mie Prefecture is interested, skills training could be developed to meet the needs of industries in Mie Prefecture, Japan. “However, they will be given training and familiarisation at the training institution before being sent to Japan,” she said.
