Banten enters top five national investment destinations in 2026
Serang (ANTARA) - Banten Province has secured a position among Indonesia’s top five investment destinations in the first half of 2026, with total realised investment reaching Rp66.3 trillion.
Governor Andra Soni stated in Serang on Monday that this success was inseparable from the local government’s commitment to creating a safe, comfortable business climate with legal certainty for all business actors.
‘Investment must provide tangible benefits to the community through job creation, improved welfare, economic growth, and the empowerment of local entrepreneurs and MSMEs,’ he said.
The positive investment trend in Banten was already evident in 2025, when the province achieved Rp130.2 trillion, surpassing the central government’s target and securing fourth place nationally. Entering the first quarter of 2026, investment realisation reached Rp34.4 trillion and continued to grow significantly by the end of the first semester. In addition to Domestic Direct Investment, Banten has also become a magnet for Foreign Direct Investment.
Edwin Setiawan Tjie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Bilateral Committee for Vietnam and Cambodia, noted that many Vietnamese investors are beginning to make Banten their primary new investment destination in Indonesia.
According to Edwin, Banten’s position is highly strategic, supported by toll road infrastructure, railway access, ports, airports, comprehensive industrial estates, and a large domestic market.
‘The sectors attracting foreign investors include manufacturing, property, and even dairy cattle farming, which has significant prospects to support the national Free Nutritious Meals Programme,’ he said.
In response to this high level of interest, the Banten Provincial Government will soon hold the Banten Investment Forum to connect global investors with local business players. Several consortiums have already expressed new commitments to invest a total of Rp81 trillion in the Banten region.
To maintain this positive trend, the business community has urged the local government to accelerate licensing services, provide investment protection, and eradicate thuggery.
Following up on this, the Banten Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office, together with the Banten Regional People’s Representative Council, affirmed their commitment to synergise with law enforcement officials to maintain stability and a conducive business climate in the region.
