Banten Deputy Governor urges residents to support 2026 Economic Census with honest data
Deputy Governor of Banten, Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah, has urged all residents of Banten Province to support the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census by providing honest and transparent data to census officers.
This call was made by Dimyati following his participation in a simulation of the 2026 Economic Census with officials from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Banten Province in Serang on Thursday.
“I urge the people of Banten to answer every question posed during this census honestly and transparently, as the confidentiality of the data will be guaranteed,” Dimyati stated.
He emphasised that active public participation is a crucial factor, as the census results will be used by the government as the primary reference for mapping the real economic conditions and formulating more targeted development programmes.
The 2026 Economic Census is scheduled to take place over four months, from 1 May to 31 August 2026. Through this data collection, local governments are expected to gain a comprehensive overview of the community’s economic strengths, unemployment levels, and the effectiveness of economic growth in the field.
In addition to urging the public, Dimyati also requested that all Regional Device Organisations (OPD) within the Banten Provincial Government strengthen collaboration with BPS.
He proposed regular monthly discussions to review census results and quarterly data as the basis for policy formulation and regional budgeting.
According to him, the accuracy of BPS data is vital so that the Banten Provincial Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) can be allocated more efficiently to support national strategic programmes, including President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita.
“BPS has the experience and can serve as the foundation for development planning in Banten Province. I do not want to receive mere reports; they must be real and accountable,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency of Banten Province, Yusniar Juliana, appreciated the support from the Banten Provincial Government for the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census.
She described the role of BPS as akin to a compass that provides direction for development through the provision of accurate and reliable data.
“We greatly welcome the idea of regular meetings and support for this census to strengthen collaboration in realising One Data Indonesia,” Yusniar said.
