Serang (ANTARA) - The Deputy Governor of Banten, Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah, has asked the Indonesian Association of Catering Entrepreneurs (APJI) to provide training to kitchen operators to support the national program Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG).

“I see APJI as a professional organisation. It needs to support APJI to train operators so they become more professional and understand how to maintain good food quality,” Dimyati said in Serang on Thursday.

In addition to supporting the nutrition fulfillment program, Dimyati also praised the strategic role of the catering services sector in absorbing hundreds of thousands of workers in Banten. The sector is seen as capable of boosting regional economic growth, attracting investment, and promoting tourism through the preservation of local cuisine.

In response to the directive, APJI General Chairman Tashya Megananda Yukki said his organisation is ready to synergise with the Banten Provincial Government. He said they are prepared to train volunteers and MBG kitchen partners or the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) through APJI Task Force.

Tashya revealed APJI’s commitment to food safety standards has earned national trust. Currently, APJI is collaborating with the Ministry of Defence and the Defence University to train catering management for 32,000 Development Movers graduates who are being prepared to become MBG kitchen leaders.

“APJI is highly focused on food safety. We hope all catering service entrepreneurs and culinary players in Banten can be certified and receive adequate training,” Tashya said.

Through standardisation and training, he believes the food served to the public can be ensured for health, taste, service, and quality of portions.
