Banten boosts tourism promotion

ANYER, Banten: Efforts to boost tourism in the newly
established province of Banten, and in particular Serang regency,
are underway with the local Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant
Association (PHRI) printing some 25,000 brochures to be
distributed at home and abroad.

The head of PHRI's Serang office Soekiman Surip said here on
Saturday that the brochures have already been distributed to
various Indonesia missions abroad and travel agencies.

About 2,000 have also been taken to Sri Lanka where an
international tourism conference will be held, Soekiman said as
quoted by Antara.

The brochure consists mainly of a map of major routes, main
hotels and tourist attractions in the area. Its slogan describes
Banten as the "Virgin Destination of Indonesia." (mds)
