Banten and Lampung to host PON 2032

Jakarta (ANTARA) — The provinces of Banten and Lampung have been designated as hosts of the Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) 2032 after being officially designated at the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) and Extraordinary National Sports Conference (Musornaslub) of KONI in 2026, on Thursday. Head of the Recruitment and Screening Team for the Potential Hosts of PON XXIII/2032, Major General (Ret.) Dr. Suwarno, reported the results of the site visit to the sole candidate, Banten and Lampung, meeting the requirements for facilities and infrastructure as hosts. “Different from previous PONs. The conclusion from our visits is that Banten meets 89 percent of the requirements, considering the availability of venues, dispersed hotels, and health facilities,” Suwarno told reporters. Although cleared in verification, Suwarno gave an evaluation regarding Lampung, where one shortcoming is an eight-lane athletics arena. However, overall it has been very good. “From what we saw in Lampung, it is slightly lower than Banten, with 76 percent meeting the requirements,” Suwarno said. With six years of preparation time, KONI Pusat hopes the host provinces Banten and Lampung can prepare themselves as well as possible.
