The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported four fatalities following a landslide at the Bantargebang waste treatment site (TPST) in Bekasi on Sunday, 8 March. The incident occurred at approximately 14:30 Western Indonesian Time when waste collection trucks were queuing to unload their cargo.

Head of the Jakarta Disaster Management Unit, Isnawa Adji, stated that the landslide suddenly occurred, crushing five waste trucks and one nearby food stall. Preliminary estimates suggest approximately ten people were buried, comprising local residents and waste truck drivers.

By Sunday evening, four fatalities had been recovered from the debris. The deceased have been identified as Enda Widayanti, Sumine, Dedi Sutrisno, and Irwan Supriatain.

Search and rescue operations for the remaining missing persons are ongoing. Combined search and rescue teams are deployed with 20 excavators assisting in the recovery efforts.
