Banks to collect sanitation fees

MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: The mayoralty of Makassar is now
allowing residents to pay their sanitation fees at local banks,
following a deal signed by the mayoralty and 17 banks on Monday.

The head of Makassar City Park Agency, Burhanuddin MS said on
Tuesday that since the deal had been signed, residents could
simply go to the bank to pay their monthly sanitation fees.

"The money collected by the banks will be directly transferred
to the mayoralty. In this way residents are guaranteed that their
money will go to the right place," he said.

He said a number of people claiming to be sanitation fee
collectors assigned by the mayoralty had been soliciting money
from residents.

Such people would not operate in the future, he said.

The 17 banks involved in the deal include BRI Bank, Buana
Indonesia Bank and Mandiri Bank. --Antara
