Banks Lending to Government Programmes Receive Cashback from BI, Totalling IDR 497 Trillion

Bank Indonesia (BI) has returned liquidity worth IDR 497 trillion to banks that have channelled credit to government priority programmes. The incentive is provided through the central bank’s macroprudential liquidity policy (KLM) instrument. Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti stated that the policy is designed to ensure banking liquidity remains adequate. “Banks that lend to government programmes receive cashback from BI. As of June, the funds we have returned to banks amount to IDR 497 trillion,” Destry said during the CNBC Indonesia Investment Forum 2026 at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) Main Hall in Jakarta on Wednesday. She expressed confidence that this policy would sustain double-digit credit growth, noting that bank lending growth had already approached 12% year-on-year as of May 2026.
