With reference to a letter (in the July 8 edition) titled
Circular from Bank Indonesia, it is hereby clarified that Bank
Indonesia has never published announcements, circulars and the
like that declare rupiah banknotes of certain serial numbers to
be counterfeit money. In their first issue, part of the Rp
100,000 banknotes of AA and AB series have inferior printing
quality, but they are not forged bills.

Those who own Rp 100,000 banknotes of the above series should
exchange them at nearby offices of Bank Indonesia. In order to
widen public understanding of the typical characteristics of
genuine rupiah banknotes, Bank Indonesia always announces them
through statute books, leaflets, posters, public service ads and
direct information. Any party wishing to know about the detailed
features of genuine rupiah bills can contact the nearest office
