Bankers mobilized in Jakarta

JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta administration is mobilizing bankers to take part in funding the city's development programs.

Jakarta Governor Surjadi Soedirja in a meeting with the bankers explained on Wednesday some of the city's development programs, such as the reclamation plan along Jakarta Bay, the planned underground mass rapid transportation system and slum area rehabilitation schemes.

The programs, Surjadi said, were aimed at helping Jakarta become a service center in the 21st century.

"Please, choose for yourself which programs you want to participate in," Surjadi said.

The bankers agreed to form a communication forum to help realize the idea and named the Bank DKI director the forum's secretary.

Surjadi said that to support the program for assisting small- scale businesses, the bankers could help them with the marketing of their products. (01)
