Bank Woori Saudara Spreads Ramadan Care, Bringing Hope to Underprivileged Communities around Cipucang Landfill
Ramadan serves as an opportunity to expand compassion and deliver tangible benefits to others. This spirit has been realised once again by PT Bank Woori Saudara Indonesia 1906, Tbk. (BWS) through its corporate social responsibility programme titled Ramadan: Bag of Happiness 2026.
Through this initiative, BWS channels assistance in the form of basic necessity packages to support communities’ breaking of fast and pre-dawn meals during Ramadan for underprivileged populations. In implementing the programme, BWS has again partnered with Human Initiative (HI) as a distribution partner to ensure the programme’s benefits reach those in genuine need.
The donation was handed over directly by Edwin Sulaeman, Director of Business Support at Bank Woori Saudara, on 6 March 2026 at Bank Woori Saudara’s Head Office.
The assistance will subsequently be distributed to residents around Cipucang Landfill, Serpong Village, Serpong District, South Tangerang City. This area surrounds the landfill and is home to underprivileged communities, including waste pickers and families whose livelihoods depend on waste management activities.
Facing various social and economic constraints, residents in this region encounter substantial challenges. Irregular income, unhealthy environmental conditions, and limited access to basic resources make support with essential provisions a meaningfully valuable form of assistance, particularly during Ramadan.
Consequently, this basic provisions distribution programme represents a relevant and impactful step. Beyond simply helping meet daily needs, this initiative embodies genuine concern for community groups requiring greater attention.
The collaboration between BWS and Human Initiative through the Bag of Happiness programme is expected to bring happiness whilst strengthening the spirit of solidarity during the sacred month. For BWS, this programme forms part of the company’s sustained commitment to continue contributing through various social activities delivering direct benefits to communities.
Edwin Sulaeman, Director of Business Support at Bank Woori Saudara, stated that Ramadan represents the appropriate time to strengthen relationships with communities whilst delivering broader social impact.
“Ramadan is the right moment to strengthen our connection with communities. BWS’s presence not only provides financial solutions but also delivers social impact for those in need. Through this programme, we hope to lighten their burden somewhat whilst bringing happiness to communities in need,” he stated in an official statement received on Monday, 9 March.
Going forward, BWS reaffirms its commitment to continue implementing various social initiatives delivering positive and sustained impact. By opening collaborative spaces with diverse stakeholders, BWS hopes the CSR programmes presented can reach more beneficiaries and provide genuine contributions to communities.
