Bank Permata Encourages Students to Strengthen Green Economy and Technology
Bank Permata, through its Road to Permata INSPIRE series in collaboration with Katadata Green and universities, is encouraging students to become the driving force of the future economy by strengthening their capacity in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and technology-based innovation.
Melinda Hoesain, Division Head of Corporate Relation & CSER at Permata Bank, stated that Road to Permata INSPIRE opens a space for the younger generation to discuss, learn, and inspire one another in creating relevant solutions for future challenges.
‘We see that the best ideas are often born when industry, academia, and communities can connect and synergise. The hope is that more young people will not only be ready to face change but also dare to take a role in creating a more inclusive and sustainable future,’ Melinda said in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Strengthening talent is becoming increasingly relevant as Indonesia targets achieving Net Zero Emission by 2060 or sooner, which requires cross-sector innovation to drive a low-carbon economy. Furthermore, Indonesia is estimated to need around 12 million digital talents by 2030, making the improvement of young people’s competencies a crucial factor in maintaining national economic competitiveness.
The series of activities included the ‘ESG for Tomorrow Leaders’ forum at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara on 21 May 2026, featuring Katharine Grace, Chief of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability at Permata Bank, who discussed the application of ESG as a foundation for decision-making, risk management, and long-term value creation supporting the transition to a green and inclusive economy.
Meanwhile, under the theme ‘Beyond Profit: Creating Impactful Innovation’ at Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya, Permata Bank’s Technology Director, Ahmad Mikail Madjid, emphasised that technological developments open opportunities for more inclusive and adaptive innovations that meet society’s needs. This approach is part of Permata Bank’s digital transformation in delivering more efficient and customer-oriented banking services.
Through Road to Permata INSPIRE, Permata Bank hopes that collaboration with universities, communities, and various stakeholders can strengthen the national innovation ecosystem. This initiative is expected to produce a generation of leaders who not only drive economic growth but also accelerate the creation of sustainable and globally competitive development.
