Bank NTB Syariah Launches Cross-Border QRIS Service for International Transactions
Bank NTB Syariah has launched the implementation of Cross-Border QRIS services. This digital service transformation enables cross-border transactions to proceed smoothly.
The President Director of Bank NTB Syariah, Nazaruddin, stated that this innovation simplifies processes for customers and merchants. The Cross-Border QRIS can also handle payments from various countries, such as South Korea, China, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore, in an easy, quick, and secure manner.
“This achievement is part of Bank NTB Syariah’s commitment to supporting the nationally integrated global digital payment ecosystem, while expanding transaction access for the tourism sector and UMKM players in NTB,” Nazaruddin said in his statement on Monday (4/5/2026).
Regarding the implementation of Cross-Border QRIS, Nazaruddin remarked that it embodies the spirit of ‘From Local to Global’. Through this initiative, Bank NTB Syariah demonstrates that a regional development bank (BPD) can compete technologically and provide international-standard services.
“Cross-Border QRIS serves as concrete proof that regional financial services have now gone global, in line with strengthening NTB’s positioning as a modern and inclusive global tourism destination,” Nazaruddin added.
Nazaruddin claimed that the implementation of Cross-Border QRIS positions Bank NTB Syariah on par with national banks in terms of international payment technology.
“We view this as a significant opportunity to support the increase in Original Regional Income (PAD), while making it easier for foreign tourists to conduct cashless transactions safely and comfortably without needing to carry large amounts of cash,” Nazaruddin emphasised.
According to Nazaruddin, this step not only strengthens Bank NTB Syariah’s digital services but also delivers tangible impacts on regional economic growth, particularly through increased transactions in the tourism sector and micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM).
Through Cross-Border QRIS, Nazaruddin explained, foreign tourists can make direct payments using payment applications from their home countries without needing to exchange cash.
“This provides convenience while enhancing transaction comfort at various flagship destinations in NTB,” Nazaruddin said.
Nazaruddin hopes this innovation will accelerate non-cash transactions, strengthen the digital economic ecosystem, and enhance regional competitiveness at both national and global levels amid the rising number of foreign tourist visits.
“In essence, Bank NTB Syariah will continue to deliver digital-based service innovations, including the optimisation of QRIS and strengthening of the RIMO platform (Rinjani Mobile Banking), as part of its commitment to providing services that are safe, easy, and compliant with sharia principles,” Nazaruddin clarified.
