Bank Muamalat and BMM distribute assistance to 2,026 orphans
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk and Baitulmaal Muamalat (BMM) have collaborated with the Istiqlal Mosque Management Agency to distribute aid worth IDR 240 million for assistance to 2,026 orphans. In addition, the aid distribution includes 100 prayer kits and charity boxes as part of efforts to support the ease of the ummah in worshipping and giving charity. SEVP Operations of Bank Muamalat, Dedy Suryadi Dharmawan, in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, stated that this social activity is part of a series of collaborations between Bank Muamalat, BMM, and the Istiqlal Mosque Management Agency, which agreed to establish cooperation since 2025. He believes that synergy is the key to optimising the role of the mosque as a centre of human civilisation. His side also believes that the mosque is the basis of unity and the strength of the ummah in mobilising various aspects of life in society. “Hopefully, Bank Muamalat and Istiqlal Mosque become a large family of civilisation and the struggle of the ummah,” said Dedy. The aid distribution took place last week at Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, attended by the Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque as well as Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar. Dedy said that several collaborative programmes that have been implemented include social services, religious guidance, and social assistance in correctional institutions, national ecotheology seminars, Training of Trainers (TOT) for Sign Language Quran, to humanitarian assistance through the Palestine Expedition. “All these social activities are intended to strengthen the support of Bank Muamalat and BMM for the activities, services, and welfare of the ummah,” said Dedy. Meanwhile, BMM Executive Director Tegar Sangga Barkah emphasised BMM’s commitment to continue strengthening the function of the mosque. According to him, the mosque is not only a place of worship but also a centre for education, knowledge, as well as social and humanitarian activities. “We continue to design various programmes to expand the benefits of zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf funds. One of them is through collaboration with Istiqlal Mosque, which is the national religious centre,” said Tegar. Bank Muamalat and BMM also hope to continue strengthening synergy with various parties to present programmes that provide real impact for society, especially in supporting the welfare of the ummah and strengthening Islamic values.
