Bank Mega (MEGA) Becomes First Mover for Indonesia Credit Card
Bank Indonesia, together with the Indonesian Payment System Association (ASPI) and supported by the Indonesian Credit Card Association (AKKI), issuers and Payment System Infrastructure Providers (PIP), has launched the Kartu Kredit Indonesia (KKI) for the retail segment or the general public as an alternative domestic deferred payment method. PT Bank Mega Tbk. (MEGA) is one of the first-mover banks for KKI alongside six other banks, as a demonstration of its commitment to supporting the strengthening of the national payment system ecosystem. The implementation of KKI serves as an efficient, prudent and integrated domestic payment instrument alternative with the national payment system infrastructure.
The initiative was officially launched to coincide with the 81st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, held at Bank Indonesia. On that occasion, Bank Mega was represented by Director of IT & Operations YB. Hariantono and Credit Card Unsecured Loan (CCUL) Product & Portfolio Head, Yan Adisesha Gandhi.
Bank Mega’s participation as a first mover for KKI is part of its support for the development of an increasingly integrated, secure, efficient and nationally based payment system infrastructure. KKI has been developed as a credit-based payment instrument with domestic processing.
For Bank Mega, involvement in this initiative represents support for efforts to build self-reliance and resilience in the national financial ecosystem, while strengthening the banking industry’s role in delivering payment innovations that meet the needs of society and the development of Indonesia’s digital economy. The development of KKI is also in line with efforts to expand the use of non-cash payment instruments and encourage transactions that are more secure, efficient and transparent.
Furthermore, as a first mover for KKI, Bank Mega can expand its ecosystem and increase sales volume, customer acquisition and engagement through payment products and services that are relevant to the needs of the public. Bank Mega can capitalise on this momentum to strengthen its credit card business penetration while delivering an increasingly easy and convenient digital transaction experience for customers.
Going forward, Bank Mega is committed to continuing to be part of the transformation of the national payment system, delivering innovations that provide tangible benefits for customers, while creating sustainable business growth for Bank Mega and the Indonesian economy.
