PT Bank Mandiri Taspen (Bank Mantap) is targeting an upgrade to become a bank in the Kelompok Bank Berdasarkan Modal Inti (KBMI) 3 category by 2028 through organic capital strengthening, supported by consistent profit growth and a policy of retaining the majority of company profits. “The plan is that by 2028, hopefully we will have moved up another class to KBMI 3,” said Head of Strategic & Performance Management Department at Bank Mandiri Taspen, Agus Syaiful Anwar, in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday. Agus explained that Bank Mantap had just been upgraded from a KBMI 1 bank to KBMI 2 in April 2024. At that time, the company’s core capital had exceeded the minimum KBMI 1 limit of Rp6 trillion and is now approaching Rp10 trillion, providing a foundation to continue strengthening capital towards KBMI 3. He noted that from 2017 to 2020, business expansion was still supported through rights issues with capital backing from Bank Mandiri and Taspen. However, from 2020 to the present, capital requirements have been met organically in line with the company’s improving performance. Agus said this condition is reflected in the capital adequacy ratio (CAR), which has reached around 30 percent, well above regulatory requirements and the banking industry average. He added that the acceleration of capital growth is also supported by a dividend payout ratio policy of 10 percent to shareholders, namely Bank Mandiri and Taspen. Meanwhile, around 90 percent of profits are retained and reinvested as capital, thereby accelerating the accumulation of the company’s core capital. The minimum core capital requirement to become a KBMI 3 bank is above Rp14 trillion. With the current core capital position nearing Rp10 trillion, the company is optimistic it can achieve the target by 2028 if performance is maintained. According to Agus, this optimism is even greater if profits continue to increase year on year. “The hope is that this year’s profit can reach Rp1.7 trillion, next year Rp2 trillion, and the year after Rp2.5 trillion. So we feel we are still very confident about being able to move up to KBMI 3 by 2028 organically,” Agus said. Based on the company’s financial report as of the end of March 2026, Bank Mantap’s capital adequacy ratio (KPMM) stood at 30.04 percent. Core capital (Tier 1/CET1) reached Rp9.34 trillion, growing 18.3 percent year-on-year (yoy) from Rp7.90 trillion in the same period the previous year. Net profit for the period ending March 2026 was recorded at Rp464.2 billion, an increase of 6.6 percent yoy from Rp435.6 billion. In the same period, third-party funds (DPK) reached Rp58.34 trillion, up 17.6 percent yoy. This growth was supported by an increase in low-cost funds (CASA) to Rp15.06 trillion, or a rise of 44.2 percent yoy. Meanwhile, loan disbursement reached Rp51.63 trillion, growing 9.4 percent yoy. Bank Mantap’s total assets also increased 14 percent yoy to Rp76.58 trillion as of the end of March 2026.
