Jakarta. PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. (BMRI) has affirmed that its high credit growth in the first half of 2026 was balanced by increasingly healthy asset quality. This is reflected in various improving risk indicators, including the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio, loan at risk (LAR), and special mention loan (SML) ratios. Bank Mandiri’s Director of Risk Management, Danis Subyantoro, stated that the LAR ratio continued to show an improving trend. As of the second quarter of 2026, LAR fell by 1.13 percentage points year-on-year to 5.93%. Improvement was also seen in the special mention loan (SML) ratio, or loans with collectability 2 status, which declined by 5.3 basis points (bps) year-on-year to 2.89%. “Bank Mandiri’s commitment to healthy asset quality is reflected in the LAR ratio, which continues to improve year after year. This decline is also in line with the improvement in the SML ratio,” Danis said during the first half of 2026 performance presentation on Thursday (23/7/2026). Furthermore, Bank Mandiri’s non-performing loan (NPL) ratio also continued to improve to 0.98% in the second quarter of 2026, down 10 bps compared to the same period last year. According to Danis, the maintained asset quality was also supported by strong provisioning, keeping the cost of credit (CoC) at an optimal level of 0.52% up to the second quarter of 2026. President Director of Bank Mandiri, Riduan, previously revealed that the company recorded credit growth of 19.9% year-on-year to IDR 1,592 trillion as of the second quarter of 2026, nearly double the growth rate of the national banking industry. On the funding side, third-party funds (DPK) grew by 17.1% year-on-year, also above the industry average. According to Riduan, this business growth was carried out prudently while maintaining healthy asset quality. “This solid performance and fundamentals make us optimistic that Bank Mandiri can deliver a positive, healthy, and significant contribution to strengthening and driving sustainable national economic growth,” said Riduan.
