Bank Mandiri to Launch Carbon Credit Feature in Livin
PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. (BMRI) has announced plans to launch a feature for greenhouse gas emission reduction certificates (SPE-GRK), or carbon credits, targeting the retail market on Livin’ Planet. Deputy Director Henry Panjaitan stated that the release will occur tomorrow, in commemoration of Earth Day on 22 April 2026. This launch involves collaboration with Indonesia’s Carbon Exchange, known as IDX Carbon. “We will release the latest feature on Livin’ Planet, namely the launch of greenhouse gas emission reduction certificates, or abbreviated as SPE-GRK, for the retail market in collaboration with IDX Carbon,” Henry said during a virtual presentation of Bank Mandiri’s first-quarter 2026 performance on Tuesday (21/4/2026). According to Bank Mandiri’s official website, Livin’ Planet is a feature within Livin’ Sukha aimed at increasing customer awareness and engagement regarding care for the Earth, starting from educational content, calculating carbon footprints, contributions to tree planting, and reports on tree-planting contributions. Customers can access carbon calculator services, tree-planting contributions, and reports on monitoring tree-planting contributions that have been made. Carbon footprint refers to daily activities that produce greenhouse gas emissions, including carbon dioxide (CO₂) and other pollutants. The launch of this feature aligns with Bank Mandiri’s commitment to strengthening its sustainable banking pillar. Henry explained that Bank Mandiri’s current sustainability portfolio has grown 8.8% annually to Rp320 trillion as of March 2026. The state-owned bank also continues to maintain its position as the market share leader in green portfolios, reaching more than 35%, larger than the other three national banks.
