Bank Mandiri Taspen Partners with UGM to Strengthen Synergy Between Education and the Financial Industry
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Bank Mandiri Taspen has officially entered into a strategic partnership with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to integrate banking services with the strengthening of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education to produce outstanding talent.
The MoU signing was conducted by the President Director of Bank Mandiri Taspen, Panji Irawan, alongside the Rector of UGM, Ova Emilia, at the UGM campus in Yogyakarta on Friday (10/4/2026).
Panji noted that the partnership represents the synergy between the banking sector and the world of education as a centre of innovation.
The partnership between the two entities encompasses the optimisation of banking services, including the provision of liquidity management solutions, placement of operational funds, and strengthening of educational infrastructure through giro and deposit instruments (SMARD).
Furthermore, it involves digitalisation and financial literacy. This includes facilitating payments for Non-Tax State Revenues (PNBP) and Single Tuition Fees (UKT) through a virtual account system. In addition, there are educational programmes preparing for post-retirement life (pre-retirement) for lecturers and educational staff.
Support for the MBKM (internship) programme. Provision of internship opportunities for UGM students at the Bank Mandiri Taspen branch network to gain direct experience in the banking industry.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Provision of scholarships for outstanding students as well as support for various university fundraising initiatives.
Strategic development. Opening opportunities for other innovative collaborations in the future, which will be followed up through technical Cooperation Agreements (PKS).
Through this collaboration, both parties hope to create a mutually supportive ecosystem between the world of education and industry, while also encouraging the emergence of competitive human resources ready to face global challenges.
The Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Ova Emilia, welcomed the synergy as a strategic step in strengthening the financial ecosystem within the campus environment.
According to her, the partnership that has been established for approximately 10 years has proven to provide tangible benefits and is now extended because it is deemed increasingly strategic moving forward. She also expressed appreciation for the collaboration that has run well so far.
The synergy is expected not only to improve operational efficiency within the UGM environment but also to contribute to supporting the Golden Indonesia vision through the development of globally competitive human resources.
In addition, this partnership is considered unique because it can provide support for UGM’s retired employees. Various programmes are also being developed, from internship opportunities to special programmes for former employees.
UGM has also implemented several initiatives for retirees, such as the Poswindu health programme that has been actively running, as well as the provision of “Rumah Senior” as a space for activities so that former employees remain productive and empowered.
“We hope that the steps started on this auspicious day can continue to provide broad benefits for society, the nation, and the country,” said Panji Irawan.
