Bank Mandiri Taspen is engaging with victims of an alleged investment scam involving a former employee, identified by the initial N alias D (36), to strengthen financial literacy and increase public vigilance against fraudulent investment practices.

I Putu Agus Sinom Artawan, Distribution Head 5 (Central Java-Yogyakarta) of Bank Mandiri Taspen, stated in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Friday that the bank accepts and welcomes the complaints from the victims of suspect N alias D, who is allegedly involved in the investment fraud case.

“We are opening a communication channel with the victims while providing education to prevent similar incidents from recurring. Customer protection is our primary commitment,” he said.

He explained that all customers present at the event were welcomed directly by Bank Mandiri Taspen’s management, including Purwokerto Branch Manager Puguh Setiaris Wicaksono and Taskforce Division Head Muhammad Ikhsan. In addition to receiving the victims’ aspirations, Bank Mandiri Taspen also provided various support services, such as free health checks and a communal meal. On that occasion, participants, together with the Mantap Indonesia Community, also distributed a ‘Blessed Friday’ programme to the surrounding community.

“This activity is part of the company’s efforts to strengthen relationships with customers while building collective awareness about the dangers of illegal investments that often target the public,” he said.

He noted that the customers subsequently participated in a financial literacy session delivered by Andi Prasetyo Nugroho, Department Head of Operation Customer Experience at Bank Mandiri Taspen. The session explained proper credit mechanisms, the characteristics of legal investments, and various modus operandi commonly used by perpetrators of fraudulent investments.

Following the discussion and education, the customers and Bank Mandiri Taspen agreed to jointly fight against fraudulent investment practices. They also encouraged families to be more proactive in protecting elderly parents and other family members from various forms of investment scams.

Sinom stated that family involvement is a crucial factor in preventing people from becoming victims of illegal investments, especially the elderly, who are often targeted by perpetrators. “We urge all families to remind each other and to verify first before deciding to invest. Do not be easily tempted by unreasonably high returns,” he said.

He added that Bank Mandiri Taspen plans to expand its customer education and protection programme through financial literacy activities across nine distribution regions under the company’s coordination. Through this programme, Sinom hopes the public will better understand the importance of sound financial management and be able to recognise and avoid various forms of harmful illegal investment offers.

Previously, the Banyumas Police had named a woman with the initial N alias D (36) as a suspect. She has been detained since 7 June 2026 and charged under Article 492 or Article 486 in conjunction with Article 127 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison.

In this case, police estimate the total losses suffered by victims amount to approximately Rp25 billion, with the number of victims estimated at more than 100 people. AKP Ardi Kurniawan, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Banyumas Police, stated in Purwokerto on Wednesday (24/6) that to date, 25 victims have filed reports, with total losses of around Rp5 billion. He urged other customers who believe they are victims to report immediately to support the ongoing investigation. Furthermore, investigators will soon expand the inquiry into suspected money laundering offences to trace the flow of funds related to the case, including looking for the possibility of new suspects.
