Bank Mandiri Taspen Affirms Compliance with Legal Process in Case Involving Former Employee
Purwokerto (ANTARA) - Bank Mandiri Taspen has affirmed its full support for the legal process in a case of alleged fraud and document forgery involving a former employee with the initials NHS, alias N or D, who has been named a suspect and detained by the Banyumas Resort City Police.
At a press conference at Bank Mandiri Taspen’s Purwokerto Branch Office in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Thursday afternoon, the bank’s legal counsel Jeffry MH said his client had not provided any protection to the former employee suspected of committing the criminal acts.
After an internal examination uncovered indications of wrongdoing, Bank Mandiri Taspen’s management immediately took legal action and expressed appreciation to Banyumas Resort City Police investigators for their swift handling of the case.
“Bank Mandiri Taspen is not protecting any individual. When we saw indications of criminal acts, we promptly took legal steps because such conduct also harmed Bank Mandiri Taspen,” he said.
He said the bank’s priority is to protect customers’ interests and safeguard public trust.
Regarding the protests, Jeffry said the demands conveyed by demonstrators conflated credit issues with alleged investments, whereas the case being processed concerns alleged fraud and forgery.
Nevertheless, the bank continued to receive representatives of the protesters for dialogue and has chosen to resolve the matter through legal channels.
“We respect the legal process. Whatever the eventual legal ruling may be, we will comply with it while exercising our right of reply based on the facts and evidence we possess,” he said.
According to him, the bank’s oversight covers only the process from credit application to disbursement, while the use of funds after customers receive them is a private matter beyond the bank’s ability to intervene.
He also stressed that Bank Mandiri Taspen has no investment products, meaning the alleged investments offered by the suspect were a personal arrangement between the suspect and other parties outside the bank’s official products.
“There are indeed no investment products at Bank Mandiri Taspen. What we supervise is the credit product in accordance with the applicable stages. Once the funds are disbursed, their use becomes the customer’s private affair and we cannot intervene,” he said.
He noted that any demand for the cancellation of credit must have a clear legal basis, as the credit facilities were processed in accordance with regulations. If there are indications of wrongdoing, members of the public are welcome to pursue a lawsuit or other available legal remedies.
As a form of service, Jeffry said, Bank Mandiri Taspen has opened a complaint post for members of the public who believe they have been victimised.
He also urged all victims to report to the police promptly so that all the facts can be uncovered and legal certainty established.
Therefore, he advised those who feel they have been harmed to use the available legal channels so that the case can be handled thoroughly.
“We urge all victims to exercise their legal rights by reporting to the police or pursuing other legal remedies in accordance with the regulations,” said Jeffry.
Meanwhile, the Head of Bank Mandiri Taspen’s Purwokerto Branch Office, Puguh Setiaris, said the internal examination showed that only one document had been falsified by the former employee, namely the SAGF form.
According to him, all documents in the credit application process, from the request, verification, analysis and approval through to the disbursement of funds, complied with the applicable regulations.
“All the credit application documents conform to the regulations. From the initial verification process through to the end, everything is in order. There was only one SAGF form falsified by the individual concerned, and it was not intended for investment purposes,” he said.
He explained that the SAGF form is a document relating to the account used to collect instalment payments, not a document serving as the basis for credit approval, let alone investment.
According to Puguh, the form was misused by the former employee as part of an agreement outside the bank’s official mechanisms.
He said the form used was an old version that had been invalid since August 2025.
Meanwhile, Bank Mandiri Taspen Corporate Secretary Tulus P. Hutabarat added that the bank cannot yet respond to a proposal that corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds be used to assist the victims, as it still requires deliberation in accordance with applicable regulations.
“Regarding CSR, we cannot give an answer at this time,” said Tulus.
