Bank Mandiri Launches Health Programme and Digitises Ancient Manuscripts in Jogja
Bank Mandiri continues to strengthen its commitment to creating sustainable added value for the community through various Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programmes. As part of the Mandiri Jogja Marathon (MJM) 2026 series and in celebration of its 28th anniversary, Bank Mandiri introduced the Mandiri Bakti Kesehatan and UMKM Literacy programme at Pasar Ngasem, focusing on enhancing the quality of life through more inclusive health access and strengthening local economic capacity. Corporate Secretary of Bank Mandiri Adhika Vista stated that this programme is a tangible manifestation of the bank’s commitment to delivering growing acceleration and sustainable excellence for the community. Through Mandiri Bakti Kesehatan and UMKM Literacy at Pasar Ngasem, Bank Mandiri aims to strengthen health access, improve financial literacy, and support the economic empowerment of the people who have helped preserve Yogyakarta’s cultural heritage. As one of the main activities, Bank Mandiri held a Mini General Check Up at Puro Pakualaman and Puralaya Imogiri on 19 June 2026, and at the Keraton Ngayogyakarta on 20 June 2026. The programme reached 1,650 Abdi Dalem retainers across the three locations, providing basic health screenings including cholesterol, blood sugar, uric acid, blood pressure, and eye health checks. Bank Mandiri also donated medical equipment and supporting supplies to the Keraton clinic to support healthcare services within the palace environment. Concurrently, Bank Mandiri organised a Mass Circumcision event under Mandiri Bakti Kesehatan for 280 children from the Prambanan area and the children and relatives of Keraton Abdi Dalem families. In addition to receiving safe and quality free circumcision services, participants also received school bags and writing supplies as educational support. At the same time, Bank Mandiri launched the UMKM Literacy programme at Pasar Ngasem, targeting traders at Yogyakarta’s Pasar Ngasem. The programme provided education on digital financial management, the use of non-cash transaction services, and strengthening financial literacy to enhance the competitiveness of micro and small enterprises in the digital economy era. To support business development, Bank Mandiri also distributed cleaning equipment and painted public facilities to create a healthier, more comfortable, and productive business environment. Beyond supporting health and community economic empowerment, Bank Mandiri is also bolstering cultural preservation efforts through the digitisation of ancient manuscripts stored in the Widyapustaka Pakualaman Library. The initiative, titled Pustaka Luhur, Access for All, is designed to safeguard and broaden public access to the intellectual wealth and noble values contained in the ancient texts of the Pakualaman Duchy. As a centre of Javanese cultural treasures, Widyapustaka Pakualaman houses various manuscripts recording historical traces, governance, art, literature, and ethical values that form an important part of Yogyakarta’s cultural identity. To this end, Bank Mandiri is supporting the digitisation, transliteration, and translation of ancient manuscripts so that this knowledge heritage can be properly documented, more easily accessed, and utilised by students, researchers, and the wider public. These activities complement various TJSL programmes already implemented by Bank Mandiri for the Mandiri Jogja Marathon 2026, including the Mandiri Sahabat Desa programme, which involved road repairs, village boundary construction, and village clean-up actions in 28 villages along the race route, as well as the distribution of 2,800 basic food packages to the community. These initiatives are part of Bank Mandiri’s commitment to continuously delivering sustainable positive impact for the community and the surrounding environment.
