Bank Mandiri Denies Mass Withdrawals by Customers Amid Botok Account Controversy
Bank Mandiri President Director Riduan has dismissed reports that customers were withdrawing funds en masse following the controversy over the blocking of an account belonging to Supriyono, also known as Botok, coordinator of the Alliance of People Who Care About the Nation (AMPB).
Riduan assured that conditions for Bank Mandiri customers remain normal.
“No, there isn’t any, there isn’t any. It’s just business as usual, everything is normal,” Riduan told journalists at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, 26 August 2026.
Riduan also addressed speculation that Bank Mandiri’s share price had slumped as a result of the Botok account controversy. He insisted that this had not occurred.
“No, no. It’s normal, business as usual. The economy,” he stressed.
On the same occasion, Riduan also said that his party would promptly restore the account belonging to Supriyono, also known as Botok, the AMPB coordinator, which had been blocked and could not be used.
This was conveyed by Riduan during a joint press conference with House of Representatives Commission III and the Metro Jaya Regional Police at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, 26 August 2026.
“As was conveyed earlier, we from the bank certainly welcome the direction and request conveyed by the Regional Police Chief, the direction from the leadership of Commission III, as well as the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police,” Riduan said.
“As a bank that serves customers with the consequences regulated in the regulations, we will follow up, Director of Criminal Investigation, on what was conveyed earlier to immediately reactivate the account for which a transaction suspension was previously requested,” he continued.
