Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Bank Jatim CEO Winardi Legowo has stated that the success of the Regional Development Bank (BPD) industry is determined by three factors: firstly, capital; secondly, systems, fundamental aspects, and technology; and thirdly, human resources.

According to him, the formation of Joint Business Groups (KUB) can support these three critical success factors for the BPD industry while simultaneously enhancing competitiveness.

“In this context, the bank business group is the right strategy to strengthen the foundation, creating a robust banking structure related to expanding the capabilities of member banks and increasing future competitiveness,” he said at the Regional Bank Summit 2026: Strategic Transformation of BPDs in Driving National Development, on Wednesday (5/8/2026).

The KUB scheme is known to aim at strengthening institutions and increasing the contribution of BPDs. However, according to Winardi, these three elements must be accompanied by innovation.

“We have seen over more than six months that the five KUB members have experienced positive asset growth and other parameters such as profit,” he explained.

For context, in 2025 Bank Jatim recorded a profit of IDR 1.546 trillion. This achievement was the highest profit among all BPDs in Indonesia.

In terms of assets, Bank Jatim recorded growth of 42.93 percent, from IDR 118.14 trillion to IDR 168.85 trillion. Lending increased from IDR 75.35 trillion to IDR 110.50 trillion, or 46.65 percent growth, while Third Party Funds (DPK) rose from IDR 90.01 trillion to IDR 127.24 trillion, an increase of 41.36 percent.

Meanwhile, on a consolidated profit and loss basis, Bank Jatim also showed a positive and consistent trend. Interest income grew by 22.64 percent from IDR 8.28 trillion to IDR 10.16 trillion, net interest income strengthened by 25.90 percent from IDR 5.62 trillion to IDR 7.08 trillion, and net profit increased by 24.80 percent from IDR 1.29 trillion to IDR 1.61 trillion.
