Jambi City (ANTARA) - Bank Jambi, in collaboration with the Jambi Provincial Financial Services Authority (OJK), continues to strengthen efforts to equalise access to financial services for all segments of society, including the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) community.

This commitment was demonstrated through a Financial Education and Inclusion activity held in Nalo Tantan District, Merangin Regency, Jambi, on Thursday. The event was titled “Lantern of Inclusion Behind the Jungle: Building Financial Independence for the Suku Anak Dalam”.

The Director of Treasury, Funds, IT, and Digital at Bank Jambi, Achmad Nunung HS, stated that increasing financial literacy and inclusion is a vital step in ensuring all members of society have equal opportunities to access formal financial services. Bank Jambi supports various financial education programmes that reach communities even in the most remote areas.

The Suku Anak Dalam community is expected to become more familiar with banking products and services, understand the importance of saving, and develop the ability to manage finances independently and sustainably. Participants also gained an understanding of banking products, the benefits of saving, and how to remain vigilant against various evolving modes of financial fraud and crime.

This activity is part of a joint effort to increase public access to financial services that are safe, accessible, and tailored to community needs. The collaboration between Bank Jambi, OJK, the Merangin Regency Government, and various stakeholders is expected to empower the Suku Anak Dalam economically, providing wider access to formal financial services and enhancing their sustainable well-being.

Meanwhile, the Head of OJK Jambi Province, Yan Iswara Rosya, noted that according to the 2025 National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK), the national financial literacy index reached 66.46 per cent, an increase from 65.43 per cent last year. Meanwhile, the financial inclusion index reached 80.51 per cent, up from 75.02 per cent in 2024.

According to him, there remains a gap of 14.02 per cent between the levels of financial literacy and inclusion among the Indonesian people. OJK continues to prioritise financial education and inclusion programmes for community groups with lower financial literacy levels compared to the national average, including rural populations and those in 3T areas (Underdeveloped, Frontier, and Outermost).

“Financial education is crucial for increasing community welfare while simultaneously strengthening consumer protection,” he said. Individuals with good financial understanding can make wise financial decisions, manage income more effectively, and protect themselves from various financial risks.

The event was also attended by the Vice Regent of Merangin, Abdul Khafidh, officials from the Merangin Regency Regional Apparatus Organisation (OPD), the Tumenggung Chief, as well as members of the Suku Anak Dalam community, including women and students.
