JAKARTA — The Ramadan period is frequently utilised by various institutions to strengthen philanthropic and social solidarity initiatives. Assistance to vulnerable groups, including orphans and the underprivileged, has become a significant form of social fund distribution during the holy month.

Bank Jakarta, for example, has distributed assistance worth IDR 1.7 billion to 8,500 orphans and underprivileged children across Jakarta. This assistance is part of the Ramadan Berkah 1447 H / 2026 M programme series.

The distribution of assistance was conducted symbolically during a joint “Iftar with Management and Orphan Assistance” event at Bank Jakarta’s headquarters on Thursday, 12 March. Bank Jakarta’s board of directors presented assistance to representatives of orphans from various foundations and orphanages across Jakarta’s administrative areas.

Bank Jakarta’s President Director Agus H Widodo explained that the assistance originated from employee zakat and charitable contributions managed by Bank Jakarta’s Zakat Management Unit. The distribution of assistance was carried out through orphan care foundations and orphanages across various administrative cities in Jakarta.

“Through this activity, Bank Jakarta hopes to share joy and provide support to children in need, particularly during the blessed month of Ramadan,” said Agus on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

Bank Jakarta’s Compliance Director Ateng Rivai added that the assistance activity also represents the company’s gratitude as it approaches the commemoration of Bank Jakarta’s 65th anniversary in April 2026.

“For us, this assistance initiative is a manifestation of our gratitude for all that we have experienced in our journey to become an increasingly better bank in serving,” said Ateng.

Bank Jakarta’s Corporate Secretary Arie Rinaldi stated that the assistance activity is an annual agenda regularly conducted every Ramadan.

“Through this initiative of providing assistance to orphans and the underprivileged, Bank Jakarta can increasingly bring itself closer to the community,” said Arie.

Beyond social activities, Bank Jakarta has also prepared services for mudik travellers during the Lebaran period. The company has established a Bank Jakarta Mudik Service Point at the KM 429 Rest Area in Semarang from 14–20 March 2026.

The service point provides rest facilities for mudik travellers such as seating areas, massage chairs, free WiFi, and mobile device charging facilities. Bank Jakarta is also offering several promotional programmes for mudik travellers, including gifts upon account opening and cashback for QRIS transactions via the JakOne Mobile application.
