Bank Jakarta CEO Reveals Concerns Over BPD KUB
PT Bank DKI has been the anchor for the Kelompok Usaha Bank (KUB) scheme for a year, alongside Bank Maluku Malut, to meet the core capital requirements for Regional Development Banks (BPD). Bank Jakarta CEO Agus Haryoto Widodo stated that the KUB is highly relevant as a profitable collaboration. He noted that collaboration extends beyond the KUB, especially as the banking sector must build technology and superior human resources requiring substantial funds. “KUB is very relevant, but there are challenges, such as differences in shareholder interests, expectations, and capital. There is also a concern that the regional bank’s identity will be lost, but it won’t; this is a collaboration platform,” he asserted at the Regional Bank Summit 2026. He added that initial phases of collaboration often face cost-sharing issues, but once resolved, the partnership runs smoothly. “Therefore, initial discussions regarding collaboration are very important,” he clarified. Agus believes the growth opportunities for BPDs are excellent, with no issues in capital or liquidity. He stressed that the key is how BPDs execute these opportunities, warning against making wrong choices that could cause future problems. He urged banks to be bold in collaborating to build infrastructure and maintain governance, including asset quality and growth.
