Bank Jakarta and Persija: From Sponsorship to Strategic Partnership
Bank Jakarta is strengthening its collaboration with Persija Jakarta as an Official Partner for the 2026–2027 competition season. More than just a sponsorship, the collaboration titled ‘United for Jakarta’ is being directed towards a strategic partnership that brings together the football ecosystem and the Persija community with Bank Jakarta’s financial services and digital transformation.
The kick-off of the Bank Jakarta and Persija collaboration was held at Taman Suropati, Jakarta, on Sunday, 9 August 2026, and was attended by Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung, President Director of Bank Jakarta Agus H. Widodo, President of Persija Jakarta Mohamad Prapanca, Chairman of The Jakmania Muhammad Aditya Putra, as well as Persija coach Shin Tae-yong, along with the players and officials of Persija.
President Director of Bank Jakarta Agus H. Widodo said that there is a strong shared identity behind the collaboration between the two institutions. ‘Persija carries the name of Jakarta on its chest. Bank Jakarta carries the name of Jakarta in our identity. Both were born and grew up with the same city. Therefore, for us this collaboration is not merely a sponsorship, but how two large Jakarta ecosystems can create broader value for the community,’ said Agus.
According to Agus, Bank Jakarta wants to take the partnership beyond mere brand visibility towards engagement that can be directly felt by the extended Persija family and The Jakmania.
‘From sponsorship to partnership, from visibility to experience. We want this collaboration to eventually deliver programmes, benefits and experiences that are relevant for the extended Persija family and The Jakmania, while at the same time bringing Bank Jakarta closer to the lives of Jakarta’s people,’ he said.
Bank Jakarta will develop various activations together with Persija, including the use of banking and digital services within the Persija ecosystem, loyalty programmes, benefits for supporters, as well as various collaborative programmes throughout the competition season.
This step expands the collaboration concept which previously had included the integration of digital banking services at the Persija Store, Persija Café and Persija Access.
New Coach, New Energy
The 2026–2027 season collaboration also coincides with the start of a new era for Persija under coach Shin Tae-yong and a number of new players. Agus welcomed the arrival of Shin, who was previously widely known through his work with the Indonesian National Team. He hopes that the experience and winning spirit of the South Korean coach can provide new energy for the Kemayoran Tigers.
Interestingly, according to Agus, the playing philosophy that Shin Tae-yong wants to build has similarities with the spirit of transformation currently being undertaken by Bank Jakarta.
‘Coach Shin wants Persija to move quickly, attack, have high mobility and play as one team. That spirit is also what we are building at Bank Jakarta: faster, more agile, bolder in seizing opportunities, and the entire organisation moving as one team. Hopefully this season it is not only Persija that moves up a class, but Bank Jakarta as well,’ said Agus.
Bank Jakarta hopes that the presence of a new coach and new players can provide energy for Persija to achieve the best results in the 2026–2027 season. Moreover, Jakarta is heading towards the historic five-century milestone in 2027.
‘Of course all Jakmania have the same hope: Persija champions. If Persija can present a title at the moment of Jakarta’s five centuries, that would be a perfect gift for Jakarta,’ said Agus.
Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung also expressed his hope that the synergy between Bank Jakarta and Persija can have a positive impact while also boosting the achievements of the club that is the pride of the people of Jakarta.
‘I hope Persija Jakarta can deliver its best performance by winning the Indonesian Super League in the 2026–2027 season. This will be the most beautiful gift for the people of Jakarta and Jakmania in welcoming the commemoration of five centuries of the City of Jakarta in 2027,’ said Pramono.
President of Persija Jakarta Mohamad Prapanca welcomed the continuation of the collaboration positively. ‘This continued support is a great motivation for the management and the team to keep improving performance, achieve the highest results, and provide the best experience for Jakmania,’ said Prapanca.
Bank Jakarta Introduces a New Digital Face
The United for Jakarta momentum also marks the next step in Bank Jakarta’s transformation. Alongside the kick-off of the collaboration with Persija, Bank Jakarta officially introduced bankjakarta.co.id as the company’s new digital home, replacing the bankdki.co.id domain that has been known to the public.
The change not only represents a change in corporate name and identity, but also Bank Jakarta’s spirit of building a digital experience that is increasingly modern, intuitive and oriented towards customer needs. ‘A new name deserves a new digital experience. We want Bank Jakarta’s digital face to reflect the bank we are building: fresher, more modern, more intuitive and more customer-centric,’ said Agus.
According to him, the change in approach is part of Bank Jakarta’s efforts to move from a corporate website that primarily functions as an information channel towards a digital experience that increasingly supports the customer journey.
Agus even invited the public and The Jakmania to try the new Bank Jakarta website directly through their mobile devices. ‘A digital experience should be felt, not told. Explore it, try it, feel the difference. And if there is still something lacking, tell us. Because transformation is not about saying that Bank Jakarta is already perfect. Transformation is the courage to keep getting better,’ he said.
Bank Jakarta Wants to Be Chosen Because It Deserves to Be Chosen
Furthermore, Agus emphasised that the collaboration with Persija and the renewal of digital channels are part of a larger journey to elevate Bank Jakarta’s standing in line with Jakarta’s transformation into a global city.
Changes in public behaviour, technological developments and increasingly high customer expectations, according to him, demand that Bank Jakarta continue to improve its capabilities and competitiveness.
‘Jakarta is moving towards becoming a global city. Therefore, the bank that carries the name of Jakarta must also continue to raise its standing. We want Bank Jakarta to be increasingly modern, professional, digital, healthy and competitive, but still close to the community,’ said Agus.
He stressed that the status as a bank owned by the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta is a strength, but it must not be the only reason people use Bank Jakarta.
‘We do not want people to choose Bank Jakarta only because we are a bank owned by Jakarta. We want to be chosen because we truly deserve to be chosen. That is the Bank Jakarta we are building,’ Agus asserted.
Through the spirit of United for Jakarta, Bank Jakarta hopes that the collaboration with Persija will become one of the bridges to get closer to the community while strengthening Bank Jakarta’s relevance in the urban life of the community.
