Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) of DKI Jakarta Province has signed cooperation agreements with five universities in Jakarta as an effort to bridge the academic world with current workforce needs.

“This collaboration is a concrete step to bridge the academic world with policy needs in the field,” said the Head of the BI Representative Office for DKI Jakarta Province, Iwan Setiawan, in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Iwan emphasised that synergy with universities is key in shaping a generation with leadership abilities, adaptability, and innovation, enabling them to contribute to the national economy, particularly in supporting Jakarta as a global city.

This synergy, manifested through the “Provincial Central Banking Education DKI Jakarta 2026” programme, involves Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta, Indonesia Banking School, and Universitas Trilogi.

The Central Banking Education programme is not merely educational assistance but also an effort to foster a generation that excels not only academically but also possesses competencies relevant to the increasingly complex and digitalised global economic dynamics.

In the future, 385 students will be selected as programme recipients and join the Generasi Baru Indonesia (GenBI) Jakarta community.

More than just scholarship recipients, the beneficiaries are expected to serve as front liners, agents of change, and future leaders in supporting the implementation of Bank Indonesia’s duties in DKI Jakarta Province.

Embracing the spirit of “Synergising for an Inspiring Jakarta”, GenBI Jakarta is expected to deliver impactful programmes ranging from public education to contributions in strengthening MSMEs and the creative economy.

On the other hand, BI encourages universities to strengthen applied research that directly impacts economic policies. This collaboration is expected to support Jakarta’s transformation into a resilient, inclusive, and competitive global city.
