Bank Indonesia Launches Three Flagship ISEF 2026 Programmes, Including Scholarships
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Bank Indonesia has launched three flagship programmes at the 2026 Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF), targeting the strengthening of Islamic financial markets, zakat governance and human-resource development.
The first programme is the Islamic Financial Market Code of Conduct (ICoC), a set of guidelines for Islamic financial-market transactions drawn up by the Indonesian Money Market and Foreign Exchange Market Association (APUVINDO) and IIGMA, in collaboration with Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). It is intended to strengthen market integrity and efficiency.
“This is a code of conduct for transactions in the Islamic financial market, issued by APUVINDO. We are working with the association and IIGMA, and it was drawn up jointly with Bank Indonesia and, of course, OJK, and refined in 2026,” Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti said at the opening of ISEF 2026.
The second programme is the launch of the Zakat Core Principles (ZCP) Implementation Index 2.0, an updated index developed by the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) and Bank Indonesia. It adds a risk-management dimension to strengthen zakat governance.
Destry said the additional risk-management dimension is intended to support professional zakat governance aligned with global standards.
The third programme is an international scholarship scheme to support education for overseas students through Islamic social funds. It aims to develop highly skilled human resources, make productive use of ZISWAF (zakat, infaq, sadaqah and waqf) funds, and broaden understanding of the Islamic economy.
Destry said the scholarships were created in response to strong interest among international students in studying Islamic principles in Indonesia.
“Bank Indonesia is working with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology on this, because Indonesia’s approach to Islamic principles is considered quite good at present for fostering global peace,” Destry said.
Destry said the three programmes reflected cooperation between Bank Indonesia and ministries, institutions, associations and other stakeholders, including Islamic boarding schools.
“Together, we can continue to develop the Islamic economy and deliver benefits to the wider public,” she said.
ISEF 2026, themed “Accelerating Sustainable Islamic Economic and Financial Growth through Synergy and Digital Transformation”, is being held at the Jakarta International Convention Centre (JICC) in Jakarta from 14 to 18 October 2026.
This year’s festival is organised by Bank Indonesia in collaboration with ministries and government agencies, as well as regional governments.
ISEF 2026 is also supported by national and international strategic partners, including the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM), the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), the Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency (BPJPH), BAZNAS, the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) and the Indonesian Sharia Banking Association (ASBISINDO), alongside other partners from regulatory bodies, industry and academia.
